Surgery isn't expected to be necessary for Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley after he was taken off the field on Sunday on a backboard after a neck injury, according to Tom Pelissero of USA Today.

Finley suffered a neck injury in the team’s Week 7 game against the Browns and was taken off the field on a backboard.

Finley, 26, was transported to a hospital immediately after the injury and stayed overnight where he will reportedly continue to receive tests at an intensive care unit on Monday.
Despite the caution, Pelissero reports that news has been positive for Finley, who had movement and feeling in all of his extremities on Sunday. According to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1, Finley was able to do some walking on Monday morning.
The six-year veteran tight end was injured when he lowered his head and collided with Cleveland Browns safety Tashaun Gipson on a hit that appeared to have helmet-to-helmet contact. Finley suffered a concussion earlier in the season and was outspoken about the effect of the injury and his recovery.
Through six games played in 2013, Finley has tallied 25 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns. There is not yet a timetable for his return.
