Isaac Redman released by Steelers, according to report

The Steelers are a bit lighter at running back following the release of one of Isaac Redman.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released five-year veteran running back Issac Redman, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Redman had not appeared in a game for the Steelers since Week 3. He was buried behind rookie Le'Veon Bell, Jonathan Dwyer and Felix Jones on the depth chart.

He struggled with limited carries in the first two games and was benched with just 10 carries for 12 yards and four receptions for 14 yards on his stat line. Redman played for the Steelers for all five seasons of his career and appeared in 50 games during his tenure with the team. Redman has compiled 1,148 rushing yards and five touchdowns over his career. He is now a free agent and can sign with any team.

This move will not likely impact the Steelers at all, as Bell and Jones have been the featured backs in recent weeks. Pittsburgh is currently on a two-game winning streak after starting the season 0-4.
