Jeff Garcia interested in playing for Cleveland Browns

The Browns may have an older, more experienced option at quarterback on the free-agent market.

Rob Carr

Former NFL quarterback and NFLAM host Jeff Garcia is open to making a comeback. The former Pro Bowl passer reached out to the Browns for a workout, according to Keith Britton of the Browns Radio Network. Garcia was a four-time Pro Bowl quarterback in his 12 seasons in the NFL. He played as recently as 2011 with the Houston Texans, but has not appeared in a game since 2009.

Garcia would be a familiar face with experience in Cleveland having played for the Browns in 2004. During that campaign, Garcia started 10 of 11 games and threw for 1,731 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also added two scores on the ground. The veteran was released by the Browns after the season and signed a one-year deal with the Lions in 2005.

The Browns currently have Brandon Weeden (0-4 as starter) and Jason Campbell at quarterback. Garcia has served as a host and analyst for NFL Network's NFLAM this season. He also prepared JaMarcus Russell for his failed comeback attempt this summer.
