Mike Williams injury: Buccaneers WR says he has torn hamstring

Williams’ hamstring injury is as bad as the Bucs feared.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

UPDATE: It now appears that Mike Williams hamstring is torn, according to Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune. Williams first suffered the injury on Sept. 29.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams is dealing with a hamstring injury, and the team is "concerned" about it, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. It even has some wondering if Williams will play again this season.

Williams, who has over 60 catches in each of the last three seasons, has been the victim of shaky quarterback play so far in 2013. He has 22 catches and two touchdowns this season, but his injury is starting to slow him down to the point that he may not suit up for the Buccaneers again this season.

Vincent Jackson serves as the team's No. 1 wide receiver, but Williams has been a reliable No. 2. Tampa Bay has little depth behind him, relying on Tiquan Underwood when Williams was slowed down on Thursday.

Rookie quarterback Mike Glennon hasn't been a total disaster this season, but things aren't going to get much easier for him with Williams sidelined. The winless Buccaneers just can't seem to catch a break.
