The Lions are 5-3 following a miraculous comeback win over the Cowboys in a 31-30 shootout in Week 9. The Lions were down 30-24 when Matthew Stafford faked a ball spike and jumped over his and the Cowboys linemen for the final score to put the Lions up by one point. Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson had the second-largest total yards in a game for a receiver with 329, as the Lions scored 24 fourth-quarter points.

SB Nation’s writers are discussing the shocking comeback win of Lions over the Cowboys in Week 9.
The Cowboys were explosive on offense as well with three passing touchdowns from Tony Romo. The quarterback connected with Dez Bryant and Terrence Williams for touchdowns. Still, the Dallas defense allowed for 623 total yards against Detroit in a heartbreaking loss.
Tom Ryle of Blogging the Boys believes the Cowboys are in risky territory despite leading their division:
The Cowboys are still alone leading the division, even if it is with a .500 record. Yet that is a slender thread to hang onto to hope to get into the postseason. They do have some games coming up that they should be able to win, but they also have at least one, against the New Orleans Saints, that looks to be a near certain loss now (and will likely drop them back to .500). It would not take much of a run from one of the division rivals to overtake them. This was a lost opportunity, and lost in a manner that just seems too typical of this team. I don't see that the problem is the players, because they almost pulled this off. I just see that they were put in an impossible situation at the end. And that was because of what the offensive coordinator and his boss decided. From my viewpoint, at least.
Sean Yuille of Pride of Detroit feels the win was essential to the Lions playoff chances:
It goes without saying, but the Lions desperately needed to win this game. Going into their bye week, they can now get healthy, relax and focus on turning their 5-3 record into another run to the playoffs. And at the very least, they can look back at Sunday’s game as another memorable comeback win against the Cowboys.
The Lions will be on bye in Week 9, while the Cowboys will host the Vikings.
