The Cleveland Browns have lost another significant contributor to injury, as return specialist Travis Benjamin is out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, according to ESPN's Tony Grossi. Benjamin suffered the injury when he was tripped up by Chiefs cornerback Ron Parker on a third-quarter return.

Benjamin is out for the season and will be replaced by former Dolphins returner Davone Bess.

Benjamin, 23, was a fourth-round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft and accumulated the third-most punt return yards in the NFL through the first eight weeks of the season in 2013. He recorded his second career return touchdown in a Thursday night game against the Buffalo Bills, when he returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown to put the Browns ahead, 17-10.
The loss of Benjamin is the third ACL tear for the Browns in 2013, as quarterback Brian Hoyer and wide receiver Charles Johnson are each sidelined for the remainder of the year after suffering season-ending tears in their knees.
Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski announced on Monday that wide receiver Davone Bess will assume Benjamin's duties as punt returner. Bess returned 115 punts during his time with the Miami Dolphins, averaging 10.4 yards per return.
