Arian Foster, Ben Tate injuries concern Texans HC Gary Kubiak

Arian Foster and Ben Tate will be late week decisions for Week 9 against the Colts. Until then, the Texans are padding their running back depth chart with bodies.

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said he is "very concerned" about running backs Arian Foster and Ben Tate, both of who are on the mend for hamstring and ribs injuries, respectively, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston. Kubiak said that he won't know more about their status for Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts until the end of the week.

In the mean time, the Texans have signed two running backs for depth, picking up Deji Karim off free agency and Dennis Johnson from the Cleveland Browns' practice squad. Both were on the Texans' roster during training camp but were released before the start of the regular season. The Texans also plan to promote former Pitt running back Ray Graham.

Foster injured his hamstring on the Texans' first possession against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 though he has said he expects to play in Week 9. Ditto Tate, who broke four ribs in the loss to the Chiefs.

The Texans were desperate for depth, after releasing Cierre Wood for a violation of team rules. Before the signings of Karim and Johnson, fullback Greg Jones was the only other ball carrier on the 53-man roster outside of Foster and Tate.
