The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received injury on top of the insult of an embarrassing loss to the Carolina Panthers last Thursday with the news Monday that wide receiver Mike Williams has been placed on injured reserve with a torn hamstring. Williams' season is now officially over. He was the Bucs' second-leading receiver on the season with 22 receptions for 216 yards and two touchdowns in six games played.
NFC South injury report, Week 8: Bucs place Mike Williams on injured reserve
If you have the chance, hug a Buccaneers fan today, because the hits just keep coming. Mike Williams’ torn hamstring tops a relatively injury-free weekend for the NFC South in Week 8.

Tight end Timothy Wright appears to be the No. 2 target for quarterback Mike Glennon behind Vincent Jackson, with receivers Chris Owusu and Tiquan Underwood providing support.
Compared to the Buccaneers, the Panthers escaped Thursday night's game in relatively good health. Defensive end Charles Johnson went down with a groin injury in the closing minutes of the game, but an MRI came back negative, so he shouldn't miss much, if any, time. Johnson has the benefit of a long layoff before the Panthers play the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.
The Falcons, as well as the New Orleans Saints, did not appear to suffer significant injuries. Steven Jackson struggled somewhat in his return from a hamstring injury that had held him out since Week 2, managing just 13 total yards on 14 touches against the Arizona Cardinals. Jimmy Graham returned from a foot injury for the Saints and fared well, catching three passes for 37 yards and two touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills.
