NFL news roundup: Wide receivers subject of injury news, trade rumors

Wide receivers have been dropping like flies, and plenty of teams have wide receivers on the trading block as well.

Stephen Dunn

The Seattle Seahawks were a play away from losing to the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football. Though the Seahawks escaped with a 14-9 win, wide receiver Sidney Rice left the game with a knee injury and did not return.

Rice’s status is not yet known, but he was announced as doubtful to return just moments after heading to the locker room.

Here are some other news items you may have missed on Monday night.

Chip Kelley doesn’t think his offense has been figured out

With the Philadelphia Eagles struggling offensively the last two weeks, many have speculated that teams have started to figure out Chip Kelley's offensive scheme. Kelley doesn't see it that way. It's tough to blame him, considering the Eagles have been forced to rely on third-string quarterback Matt Barkley the last two weeks after injuries to Michael Vick and Nick Foles.

Kenny Britt not bothered by trade rumors

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt is no stranger to trade rumors. He has always had exceptional talent, but injuries and attitude have been issues for him. Thus, the trade rumors. They've sparked again recently, but Britt insists the talk isn't going to affect how he approaches the game.

How will the Colts replace Reggie Wayne?

The Colts had a bye week after a huge win over the Denver Broncos in Week 7. Indianapolis also lost Reggie Wayne in that game, however, and Week 9 will be the first look at how the team plans to replace him. Plenty of wide receivers are on the trade market, but the Colts will likely look within to replace one of the best wide receivers in franchise history.
