Dez Bryant’s outburst on Cowboys sideline was positive after all

Bryant’s claims that his sideline outburst was “all positive” were corroborated by sideline video released by NFL.com.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

In the moments after a last-second loss to the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant refused to apologize for a sideline outburst, characterizing at as "all positive." On Monday, video released by NFL.com seemed to corroborate his claim.

After a touchdown by Matthew Stafford gave the Lions a 31-30 lead with 12 seconds remaining, cameras caught Bryant in what looked to be a heated arguments with tight end Jason Witten and quarterback Tony Romo before he was grabbed and spoken to by DeMarcus Ware.

Former Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick, who was providing color commentary for the FOX broadcast, described the incident as a "temper tantrum" and said that the receiver needs to "grow up." However, later-released video from the sideline seemed to paint a different picture.

“If they press me, it’s over! It’s over!” Bryant says to Romo in the video. “We’re good on that, Tony! We’re the best in the NFL at that! We’re the best in the NFL.”

Witten was quick to defend the young receiver after the game, saying that he was attempting to calm down Bryant for a last-second attempt to win the game. Bryant finished with three receptions for 72 yards and a two touchdowns in the loss.
