Giants still support Tom Coughlin, Eli Manning despite losing record

GM Jerry Reese continues to stand behind his head coach and quarterback.

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese reiterated his support for head coach Tom Coughlin and quarterback Eli Manning. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Reese thinks the team still has a chance to contend and says there is time to "right the ship."

Coughlin and the Giants came under fire after starting the season 0-6. Things have somewhat calmed down thanks to the team winning two games in a row. Manning threw 15 interceptions during their losing streak, but managed to avoid turnovers the past two games. They still sit two games back in the dreadful NFC East and aren't expected to trade Hakeem Nicks, suggesting that the team still believes it can turn the season around.

The Giants get a Week 9 bye to evaluate things. After that, they have home dates with the Raiders, Packers and Cowboys. Coughlin has earned a lot of leeway for winning two Super Bowls with the Giants, and can quiet the doubters again with an improved second half of the season.
