Bryant McKinnie trade rumors: Ravens may attempt to trade LT after acquiring Eugene Monroe

After sending two draft picks to Jacksonville for a left tackle, could Baltimore be shopping McKinnie around to other teams? The veteran tackle gave his two cents on Thursday.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

In the wake of acquiring left tackle Eugene Monroe from the Jaguars, the Ravens may explore the possibility of trading current starting tackle Bryant McKinnie, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

The veteran tackle, who parlayed a successful playoff performance for Baltimore last year into a two-year contract, spoke with the Baltimore Sun about the possibility of being traded and seemed content that the Ravens would do whatever they had to do in the best interests of the team:

”I knew about it a little bit before ya’ll. I was kind of surprised, but I was told the situation.

“This is business, so they’re going to do what’s best for their business. That’s all I can say about that.”

McKinnie, the seventh overall pick in the 2002 NFL draft, lost his job on the left side last season to Michael Oher and has not received many positive accolades this year as Baltimore is off to a 2-2 start. The Ravens signed McKinnie to a two-year, $6.3 million contract in the offseason after he performed admirably in their surprising championship run.

However, he has come back this season over the recommended weight and now appears to be on the way out after the team acquired Monroe for fourth- and fifth-round draft picks. The NFL trade deadline this year is Oct. 29.
