NFL news roundup: Sidney Rice and Leon Hall headed to injured reserve
Tuesday’s NFL news was dominated by NFL trade speculation, but two potential playoff teams endured injuries to key players.

The Seattle Seahawks will be a little less potent on offense with the news that wide receiver Sidney Rice tore his ACL in his team's win over the St. Louis Rams Monday night. He will miss the remainder of the 2013 season.
Rice is familiar with injuries after missing 17 games since 2010 due to a variety of issues. He arrived in Seattle in 2011 and was expected to be the team's missing piece on offense, but he has been unable to contribute as a top receiver with Russell Wilson at the helm. It's unclear whether the Seahawks will retain Rice beyond this season as he enters the fourth year of his contract.
Prior to his injury, Rice had 15 catches for 231 yards. The loss takes away a familiar face for Wilson, but the team shouldn't suffer too much since the Seahawks expect Percy Harvin to return from injury soon.
Cincinnati's vaunted defense will be without its best defensive back during the second half of the season as it was announced that Leon Hall will be placed on injured reserve with a torn Achilles.
The Bengals have been known for their stellar defensive line play, but they can't afford to be without their top cornerback. It creates a domino effect on the team's depth that forces second-year cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick into a starting role. There are times Kirkpatrick has played well and others he's appeared lost, but now the defense will lean on him to be a difference-maker.
Public pressure has been mounting on the Washington Redskins organization over their racially charged nickname, and it appears owner Daniel Snyder isn't willing to budge.
Snyder met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday to discuss the opposition to the name, but there is no indication that anything new came from the meeting. The league has said publicly that it will not force Snyder to change the team name, while the Redskins’ owner remains adamant that the name holds significance.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are trying to get through the 2013 season and remain in play for one of several big-name quarterbacks slated to enter the draft. For now it appears the team's offensive hopes will rest on the arm of Chad Henne, who will start against the Tennessee Titans following the team's bye week.
Henne took over for an injured, then-ineffective Blaine Gabbert and hasn't fared much better this season -- he's thrown for 1,450 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions in five starts.
The undefeated Chiefs didn't make a trade during the deadline but did execute a roster move -- Kansas City released 27-year-old tight end Kevin Brock.
Brock's roster space will be filled by Anthony Fasano, who had been injured. Brock caught three passes for 36 yards this season in a rotational role.
