Dolphins players questioning offensive gameplan

After losing their fourth consecutive game on Sunday, Miami’s locker room is starting to second-guess the plays of offensive coordinator Mike Sherman.

Amid a four-game losing skid that has dropped them from first to third in the AFC East, players on the Miami Dolphins are reportedly growing frustrated with the play calling and offensive gameplan, according to NFL Media's Jeff Darlington.

"Let me not overstate this: The locker room is still together. There's still a good vibe in there. I talked to several players today and they still feel like they can get this season back on track.

"However, there is some question of what offensive coordinator Mike Sherman is starting to do and it really started to come to a head after Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Patriots."

The Dolphins jumped out to a 17-3 halftime lead against the division-leading Patriots, but allowed 24 unanswered points in a second-half meltdown that could be attributed to getting away from a running game that put up 120 yards on 22 carries in the first two quarters. They ran just six times in the third quarter as New England charged back to tie.

In terms of total yardage, the Miami offense has not actually declined much over it’s losing streak. It’s averaged 305 yards of offense over that span, just 14 yards fewer than it averaged during the team’s 3-0 start. Point production, however, has dropped from 24.7 per game to 19.5.
