Zac Stacy injury: Rams RB sits out practice with ankle sprain

Stacy was injured and missed the Rams’ final drive against the Seahawks on Monday and was replaced by Daryl Richardson.

St. Louis Rams running back Zac Stacy (ankle) sat out practice on Wednesday. Stacy injured the ankle late in the Rams' 14-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks Monday night, sitting out the final drive when St. Louis came up one yard short of a win. Backup Daryl Richardson filled in for Stacy and was stuffed at the goal line on third-and-1, before quarterback Kellen Clemens' final pass came up short on the last play.

Stacy was having a career day before the injury, rushing for 134 yards on 26 carries. It was nearly as many rushing yards as the Rams have had as a team in any game this season. St. Louis has run for over 100 yards in a game only twice this year, rushing for 200 in Monday’s loss.

Other Rams running backs, Richardson, Isaiah Pead and Benny Cunningham, have all struggled this year. It wasn't until the rookie Stacy, a fifth-round pick out of Vanderbilt, stepped up that they could finally move the ball on the ground. If he misses this Sunday's game against the Titans, Richardson will likely start in his place.
