DeMarco Murray returns to Cowboys practice

Dallas could really use its starting running back after the rookie Joseph Randle has struggled in Murray’s absence.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray returned to practice on Wednesday, per Rowan Kavner. Murray has missed the last two games with a knee injury, but is probable to return this Sunday against the Vikings. Rookie Joseph Randle has filled in for Murray while he's been out.

The Cowboys would greatly like to see Murray return. Randle struggled to get anything going against the Lions, rushing for 26 yards on 14 carries, as Dallas lost 31-30 in the final minute. Randle has played extensively in three games this season and in two of those games averaged less than two yards per carry. However, Murray has had issues with consistency this year.

The third-year running back rushed for 175 yards against the Rams in Week 3, but has not run for over 100 yards in any of his other five games. He has, however, scored three touchdowns and caught 24 passes for 164 yards.
