Jamaal Charles injury: Chiefs RB sits out practice with knee contusion

Charles leads the team in rushing and receiving and the team is taking every precaution to ensure he’ll play Sunday against the Bills.

Peter Aiken

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles did not practice on Wednesday, sitting out with a knee contusion according to head coach Andy Reid. The coach added that he didn't think it was a serious issue and that the team just needed to let the knee "settle down" and that Charles would be "alright."

Charles leads the NFL in total yards with 1,018, and has already caught 41 passes for 383 yards. His career-high for catches in an entire season is 45 and he could likely top that by this Sunday against the Bills for the 8-0 Chiefs. Kansas City boasts the number one scoring defense in the league, but Charles accounts for a large percentage of their total offense. He leads the team in both rushing yards and receiving yards.

Charles missed all but two games of the 2011 season but has otherwise been healthy throughout his career, missing a total of only one game in every other season combined since entering the league in 2008.
