Percy Harvin has been ruled out by the Seattle Seahawks for Week 9. Head coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Harvin remains "day-to-day" and has yet to be activated from the physically unable to perform list. He confirmed Thursday that the wideout will sit. Harvin returned to practice last week on a limited basis, but he is still working out with other players who are going through rehab.
NFL injury roundup: Harvin out for Week 9, Foster and Tate making progress
Percy Harvin has been ruled out for the Seahawks, but Arian Foster and Ben Tate will apparently be near full health for the Texans. Those updates, plus more on C.J. Spiller, Jonathan Martin, Marshawn Lynch and Roddy White.

There was speculation that Harvin would be activated for Monday night's game against the St. Louis Rams, but his repaired hip reportedly flared up before kickoff. With Sidney Rice out for the season with a torn ACL, the Seahawks are in dire need of wide receiver help. The team chose to promote Ricardo Lockette from the practice squad this week rather than activate Harvin, which is telling that Harvin still has a ways to go in his recovery.
Arian Foster and Ben Tate are reportedly progressing well from hamstring and ribs injuries, head coach Gary Kubiak told ESPN's Tania Ganguli on Thursday. The fact that both players are practicing is an encouraging sign that both will be available against the Indianapolis Colts this weekend, though Tate is still being listed as limited.
The Texans' running game has been potent at home this season, averaging more than 150 yards per game. With Case Keenum taking over as starting quarterback, a strong ground attack may be necessary to defeat a surging Colts team.
C.J. Spiller is expected to suit up for the Buffalo Bills this weekend after sitting out Week 8 to rest a nagging ankle injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Spiller returned to practice this week, though he was still limited as of Wednesday. However, head coach Doug Marrone said that the speedster should play.
After averaging 6.0 yards per carry in 2012, Spiller has struggled to get on track in 2013. He has rushed for more than 100 yards just once, and is averaging 4.0 yards per carry through seven appearances.
Miami Dolphins left tackle Jonathan Martin has already been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering an apparent emotional breakdown at the Dolphins' facility earlier this week. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer is reporting that Martin has no timetable for return, as of yet. Martin is reportedly receiving mental health counseling.
Martin began the season as a starter for Miami, but was recently displaced by Bryant McKinnie, who was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens. The Dolphins lead the NFL, having given up 32 sacks this season.
Marshawn Lynch may not have been considered in serious jeopardy of missing Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, but there were probably a few sighs of relief in Seattle following Pro Football Talk's report that the running back will suit up in Week 9. Lynch was held out of practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, but his absence appears to have been precautionary.
Lynch has been a pivotal part of the Seahawks’ offense this season. He has 601 yards rushing in eight games, with seven total touchdowns.
Roddy White missed practice for the Atlanta Falcons yet again Thursday. The wideout is still recovering from hamstring and ankle injuries that have held him out of two straight games. The fact that he has yet to practice this week suggests that he will likely miss his third straight game when the Falcons play the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
With Julio Jones out for the season, Harry Douglas will once again be the de facto No. 1 receiver for Atlanta with Tony Gonzalez also playing an enormous role.
