The 2013 season is reportedly over for Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer after only three starts. The torn ACL he suffered on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills will require surgery, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.

Early in Thursday's game, Hoyer attempted to slide and was hit awkwardly by Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso, trapping his leg underneath him. After the team started 0-2, Brandon Weeden suffered a thumb injury, forcing Hoyer into the lineup where he led the Browns to back-to-back wins.

After linebacker Jon Beason passed a physical on Friday afternoon, his trade to from the Carolina Panthers to the New York Giants was finalized Friday. A first-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, Beason played his entire career with the Panthers, earning trips to three Pro Bowls before injuries ended his 2011 and 2012 seasons prematurely. Ed Valentine of SB Nation's Giants blog, Big Blue View, described the move as "a low-risk flier worth taking" for the team. Reports are that the compensation will be a late-round pick, although that hasn't yet been announced.
Brian Hoyer wasn't the only quarterback to go down on Thursday night as Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel left the game in the third quarter after he was hit in the knee just before running out of bounds. On Friday it was revealed that Manuel suffered a sprained LCL that is expected to keep him out of the Bills lineup for at least four weeks, but possibly longer. In his place, the Bills had to rely on undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel who finished the game 8-of-20 for 80 yards and a game-clinching interception that was returned for a touchdown.
New York Giants right guard Chris Snee looks as though he's done for the season, as Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reported on Friday that the lineman is expected to undergo hip surgery that will end his year. A second-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, Snee was a starter right away and missed just one game in the last eight seasons for the Giants. With a contract set to expire after the 2013 season and previous mullings of retirement, the surgery could spell an abrupt end to Snee's career.
The New England Patriots have played a weekly game of 'will he or won't he,' regarding tight end Rob Gronkowski's return to the field from offseason back and forearm surgeries. According to a report from Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, it looks as if it will be another week with Gronkowski on the sideline -- he isn't expected to be ready for the team's game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
