The Carolina Panthers could be looking for a new coach if Ron Rivera fails to make the playoffs this season. The Panthers have gone as far as to set up a potential coaching search already, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Carolina Panthers reportedly begin coaching search
The Panthers may already be positioning themselves to move away from Ron Rivera.

Heading into Week 5, Rivera has a 14-21 record as head coach of the Panthers. He was hired following the 2011 dismissal of John Fox and finished his first season at 6-10. Carolina improved to 7-9 last season and won five of their last six games. The team has started 1-2 this season and is coming off a bye following a 38-0 thrashing of the New York Giants.
The Panthers will face the 2-2 Cardinals in Week 5, but they have a favorable schedule moving forward with the Vikings, Rams and Buccaneers on tap. For Rivera, taking advantage of the Panthers' weak schedule will be the key to holding onto his job.
