Chiefs vs. Titans 2013 game recap: Kansas City holds off Tennessee, 26-17, to stay undefeated

The Chiefs held off a Titans comeback, moving to 5-0 for the first time since 2003.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still unbeaten after dispatching the Tennessee Titans 26-17 on Sunday afternoon. It's their first 5-0 start since the 2003 season.

Things did not get off to a great start for the Titans. Damian Williams booted a Chiefs punt into the end zone, but Kansas City recovered to get the first touchdown of the day.

Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced Jake Locker at quarterback, but he was dismal in the first half, completing just five of his 14 passes for 31 yards. The Chiefs defense was stout as usual, making a goal line stand in the second quarter to stop the Titans' best chance of getting points. Kansas City went into the half leading 13-0.

The Titans got on the board early in the third quarter when Chris Johnson took a shovel pass 49 yards to the house. Tennessee added a field goal, taking advantage of an Alex Smith interception to take the lead when Fitzpatrick ran it in himself from five yards out to give the Titans a 17-13 lead.

The Chiefs took the lead back when Jamaal Charles punched it in from the goal line. Ryan Succop added to the lead with a field goal and a late Fitzpatrick interception ended Tennessee's chances of coming back.

Fantasy studs and duds

Jamaal Charles continued to deliver in both standard and PPR leagues, rushing 22 times for 108 yards and a touchdown while grabbing five receptions for 37 yards.

Injury report

Donnie Avery left the game with a shoulder injury and did not return.

Did they cover?

The Chiefs were three point favorites entering the game. Two late field goals helped them cover the spread.
