David Wilson injury: Giants RB leaves with neck injury

Wilson has been forced out of the Eagles game and will not return.

New York Giants running back David Wilson has left the game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a neck injury and his return is questionable, according to Ralph Vacchiano.

UPDATE: The Giants have announced that Wilson will not return to the game.

Wilson, a second-year man out of Virginia Tech, scored on a five-yard run early in the first quarter to put the Giants up 7-0. It was his first touchdown of the season. He had six carries for 16 yards before exiting.

Brandon Jacobs will fill in during Wilson's absence.

The Giants came into the season hoping Wilson could replace Ahmad Bradshaw as the team's primary running option. Ineffectiveness and turnover problems have hampered his success, however. He is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry and has two fumbles so far in 2013.
