Luke Joeckel injury: Jaguars OT lost for season with high ankle fracture

The Jaguars have lost their top pick from this year’s draft.

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

The Jaguars have lost their starting left tackle for the season, just days after trading away the man he replaced. Luke Joeckel, the second overall pick in this year's draft, suffered a high-ankle fracture in Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams, according to coach Gus Bradley.

The offensive tackle was injured in the first quarter of his first game at left tackle after serving as the right tackle for the first four games of his career. He was carted off the field after it was realized that he could not put weight on his leg.

Joeckel took the place of Monroe after the latter was traded for a fourth- and fifth-round pick on Thursday. Second-year player Austin Pasztor started in Joeckel's place at right tackle. Third-year tackle Cameron Bradfield is the swing tackle for the Jaguars and entered the game after Joeckel's injury. He will likely be the starter moving forward.

The Jaguars travel to Denver to face the Broncos in Week 6.
