Matthews left the game in the third quarter and did not return. The injury likely occurred on his sack of Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford to get the Lions out of field goal range. The Packers linebacker is an integral part of the Packers' defense, so he is likely to play with the injury taped up. The four-time Pro Bowler had five tackles and a sack against the Lions and has three sacks on the season so far.
Green Bay is coming off a bye, so rest is not coming for Matthews if he plans on playing out the injury. The win over the Lions puts the Packers at 2-2.
Green Bay will travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in Week 6.
