Carolina Panthers offensive guard Amini Silatolu will miss the remainder of the 2013 season with a torn ACL, the team announced on Monday.

Silatolu went down in a non-contact injury in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Initially it appeared the left guard would be okay after walking off under his own power and icing his knee on the sideline, but an MRI in Charlotte confirmed the tear.

The injury leaves the Panthers in woeful position on their offensive line. The team signed veteran Travelle Wharton prior to the start of the season when starting right guard Garry Williams tore his ACL, but Wharton has been ineffective in the Panthers' first four games of the season.

Cam Newton has been sacked 15 times in four games, on pace for a career-high 60 this season. His elusiveness in the pocket hasn’t been enough to stay upright, as Newton remains one of the most-pressured quarterbacks in the NFL.

Head coach Ron Rivera said in his Monday press conference that he was concerned about the team’s offensive line depth, but no signings have been made at this time.
