Oakland sent two draft picks to the Seattle Seahawks for the quarterback in April, giving him an opportunity to compete for a starting job. Flynn's story with the Raiders was much like his situation in Seattle, where he began the preseason as the favorite to win the job, before losing it to Russell Wilson.
Don’t feel sorry for Flynn, though. He has made more than $14 million the last two seasons for just 43 pass attempts.
The Minnesota Vikings signed Josh Freeman to a one-year deal, but don't expect the quarterback to be thrust into a starting role right away. The Vikings announced today that either Christian Ponder or Matt Cassel would start this week against the Carolina Panthers.
Freeman was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week following a drama-filled start to the season. He was entering the final year of his rookie contract in Tampa Bay and his performance this season will determine if he gets another starting opportunity in 2014.
