Zac Stacy will start against Houston

After an impressive debut, Zac Stacy will hold onto the starting running back job for at least another week.

The Rams haven't had much of a rushing attack this season, but rookie Zac Stacy provided a nice boost in St. Louis' victory against Jacksonville and the performance earned him another start, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Making the first start of his career, Stacy rushed for 78 yards on 14 carries against the Jaguars. Stacy's performance was significantly better than the rest of the Rams' backs. Daryl Richardson averaged 3.7 yards per carry on 13 attempts while Benny Cunningham gained 13 yards on four rushes. Richardson opened the season as the feature running back, but averaged 2.9 yards per carry during the first five games. The 22-year-old Stacy has 80 fewer rushing yards than Richardson, despite having 40 fewer attempts.

With the strong performance from Stacy leading the way, the Rams finished Sunday's game with 143 rushing yards, more than double their previous season high. St. Louis entered the game averaging 47.3 rushing yards per game. St. Louis selected Stacy in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He carried the ball once during the first four weeks of the season, before taking over as the starter last week.

Stacy's emergence will knock Isaiah Pead even further down the depth chart. The 2012 second-round pick was active on Sunday but did not touch the football. He has seven rushing attempts this season and is now fourth on the depth chart.
