Packers concerned about Matt Flynn’s elbow injury, per report

Flynn has dealt with tendonitis in his right elbow for more than a year and that has scared off potential suitors, including the quarterback’s former team.

The reunion of quarterback Matt Flynn and the team that drafted him doesn't look as though it'll be happening any time soon, as Ed Werder of ESPN reports that the Green Bay Packers have concerns about the elbow injury of Aaron Rodgers' long-time backup.

Flynn, 28, first began to have trouble with his right elbow during August of the 2012 season with the Seattle Seahawks when he had to sit out of a preseason game what was described by Pete Carroll as a "tendonitis type of thing." Since then, he has continuously struggled with tendonitis in his right elbow, including training camp with the Oakland Raiders in August.

A seventh-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, Flynn played four seasons as the backup for Rodgers in Green Bay, starting two career games for the team. In the regular season finale of the 2011 season, Flynn started as Rodgers was rested for the playoffs, and the backup managed to tally 480 yards passing and a franchise-record six touchdowns.

In March 2012, Flynn signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks worth $19 million, but never started a game with the team before he was traded to the Raiders.
