Geno Smith beat out the likes of Peyton Manning and T.Y. Hilton to be named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 6, thanks to a big performance on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Smith turned in what was undoubtedly the best game of his young professional career, going 16-of-20 passing for 199 yards, three touchdowns and zero turnovers to score a difficult win for the New York Jets in the Georgia Dome. He capped the night with an impressive last-minute drive deep into Falcons territory to set up a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Geno Smith earned the highest honor of his young NFL career, being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for throwing three touchdown passes against the Falcons. Joining him among the week’s honorees were Charles Woodson and DeSean Jackson.

Joining him in the AFC are Defensive Player of the Week Charles Woodson and Special Teams Player of the Week Travis Benjamin. Woodson tied an NFL record by scoring the 13th defensive touchdown of his career on a fumble return, reaffirming his place among the all-time greats. Benjamin had a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown to help lead the Cleveland Browns to a Thursday night win over the Buffalo Bills.
In the NFC, DeSean Jackson was honored as Offensive Player of the Week for his seven-reception, 132-yard performance against the New York Giants. He beat out Tony Romo, who had a career day against the Denver Broncos but also threw a costly late interception.
San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for notching a pair of interceptions against Matt Schaub and the Houston Texans, including an 18-yard interception return to the end zone. Mason Crosby was the special teams honoree for his five field goals against the Detroit Lions.
