Raiders vs. Chiefs picks and predictions 2013, Week 6: Almost everyone thinks KC will stay unbeaten

With 2-3 Oakland traveling to 5-0 Kansas City, is anybody picking the Raiders to deliver the Chiefs their first loss of the year?

Scott Cunningham

The Raiders have played surprisingly well when third-year quarterback Terrelle Pryor is healthy, to the point that they released backup Matt Flynn this week, but is that going to be enough for them to beat the 5-0 Chiefs in Kansas City? According to most of the experts: No.

The Chiefs have won five games this season after winning just two all of last year, mostly thanks to much-improved play at quarterback and the change-over to head coach Andy Reid, but it can't be discounted that Kansas City has had a favorable schedule. Two of their opponents (Jaguars, Giants) are still winless, while the Cowboys and Eagles are both 2-3. The Chiefs did beat the 3-1 Tennessee Titans last Sunday, but starting quarterback Jake Locker was held out of that game.

Does Oakland, coming off of a convincing win over San Diego, provide the biggest test for Kansas City yet this year?

The Raiders (2-3) have seen Pryor develop into a formidable threat this year, completing over 68 percent of his passes and 8.1 yards per attempt, but the Chiefs may be the toughest defense he faces all year. Winning this game will be hard, but winning in Kansas City may be more than the Oakland can bite off. At least, that’s what almost every expert believes.

All five writers at SBNation have picked the Chiefs to win and stay undefeated. All three experts at Yahoo! Sports agree that Kansas City will come out victorious. There was one expert at CBS Sports that is going with the upset, however.

While seven of eight at CBS are picking KC, John Breech thinks the Raiders can pull this one out and give the Chiefs their first loss of the year. However, six of the eight experts at CBS think that the 9.5-point spread is too large and that Oakland will cover.
