Falcons to sign WR Brian Robiskie, according to report

The Falcons will sign a wide receiver for depth after the loss of Julio Jones.

USA TODAY Sports

The Falcons have replaced wide receiver Julio Jones with a former second-round pick. Atlanta plans to signed wide receiver Brian Robiskie to a contract, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Jones will undergo surgery on his ankle after being injured during the Falcons' Week 6 loss to the Jets. The procedure will end the Pro Bowler's season and the Falcons are sorely needing depth at the position. The signing of Robiskie is likely the Falcons just adding a receiver to the end of their depth chart.

Robiskie is the son of Falcons wide receiver coach Terry Robiskie and was part of a workout on Wednesday that featured Courtney Roby, Matt Willis and Mohamed Massaquoi, according to a report by Siriux XM's Howard Balzer. The 25-year old Robiskie was 36th-overall pick by the Browns in the 2009 NFL Draft and has also played for the Jaguars and Lions in his five-year career. He has caught 43 passes for 485 yards and four touchdowns in his career.

The Falcons will be on a bye in Week 6.
