Ben Roethlisberger’s agents refute report he is unhappy and could seek a trade

Ben Roethlisberger’s agent refuted an early report the quarterback could seek a trade.

Update: Ben Roethlisberger’s agent Ryan Tollner released a statement refuting Ian Rapoprt’s report via “Rep 1 Sports” Twitter account:

“Ian Rapoport’s apparent sources seem to be guessing what Ben feels about the Steelers and being traded. This is completely wrong and inaccurate. Ben has always said he wants to play his entire career for the Steelers, and his roots are set firmly in Pittsburgh. He has a lot left in the tank & is 100% committed to winning more championships with the Steelers.”

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could potentially seek a trade this offseason, according to a report on Sunday from the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Roethlisberger reportedly continues to have issues with offensive coordinator Todd Haley, but the problems go deeper than that, coming a year after the Steelers reportedly explored trade options after the 2012 season. The Steelers went 7-9 in 2012 and missed the postseason, losing five of their last seven games, and now are 2-6 in the middle of another wholly disappointing year.

Exploring a trade of the franchise quarterback only makes sense if his replacement is already on board, reports Rapoport.

Roethlisberger has remained consistent the past few seasons despite the team’s struggles. He has 2,330 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions in eight games this season while enjoying his best completion percentage since 2009. The Steelers’ offense continues to struggle, however, with the running game ranked No. 28 in the NFL.

The Steelers take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
