Saints offense gashes Cowboys in first half

Sean Lee is missing for Dallas and Sunday night’s game is quickly getting out of hand.

The Saints are attacking the center of the field as Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee has been forced out with a hamstring injury. New Orleans took a 28-10 lead into halftime and Dallas can only hope Tony Romo can throw them back into the game.

Drew Brees is off to a hot start with 224 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Cowboys' secondary is struggling with the number of weapons the Saints are utilizing, as seven different players have caught passes and New Orleans has a distinct size advantage against a smaller secondary.

New Orleans is getting help from its run game, something that hasn't been apparent this season. Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles have combined for 77 yards on 15 rushing attempts -- forcing the Cowboys to respect the run while they are burnt deep.

Romo has been unable to respond. The Cowboys quarterback has consistently been under pressure from exotic blitz packages and he's unable to find his key receivers, completing just three passes for 20 yards. Instead the offense is leaning on DeMarco Murray, who has 80 first-half rushing yards and a touchdown.

The second half will come down to whether the Cowboys can weather the storm on defense without Lee while finding a way to make vertical passes. If those things can’t happen, it will be a long second half for Dallas.
