Peyton Manning injury: MRI results show no new damage for Broncos QB

The Broncos quarterback was sore and required further tests after taking hits from the Chargers defense on Sunday. It appears that Manning will be okay for the Week 11 bout with the Chiefs, however.

The MRI results on Peyton Manning's injured right leg showed no new damage to his high ankle sprain, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. A source told Klis that Manning "absolutely will play Sunday against the [Kansas City] Chiefs."

Manning suffered the injury on a fourth-quarter hit to his right knee during Sunday's game between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers. Though he was able to finish out the game behind center, he was noticeably in pain.

Manning’s ability to grit out pain boded well for his Week 11 status. Manning has never been one to let minor ailments slow him down. He has never missed a game, outside of the 2011 season he lost to undergo spinal fusion surgery.

Manning is leading a Broncos squad on pace to become the highest-scoring team in NFL history. The Broncos are averaging 41.2 points per game through nine game. Over that span, Manning is 262-for-369 passing for 3,249 yards, 33 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

Should Manning be forced to sit, second-year quarterback Brock Osweiler would take the reins of the offense. For his career, Osweiler is 4-for-7 passing for 22 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions.
