Charles Tillman has been placed on short-term injured reserve with a torn triceps muscle, the Chicago Bears announced Monday via Twitter. Tillman reportedly suffered the injury during the second half of Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions, though he could not say what play caused the injury.

Tillman has been placed on short-term IR by the Bears. He admitted Monday that he may have played his last game for Chicago.

The designation for return means that Tillman can return to play after eight weeks, at which point the Bears may be in the midst of a playoff run. The Bears are currently tied for second place in the NFC North at 5-4 alongside the Green Bay Packers.
Tillman has arguably been the Bears’ best defender in recent seasons. His 2012 season earned him NFL Defensive MVP consideration. He had 86 tackles, 10 forced fumbles, three interceptions and three touchdowns for the 10-6 Bears.
The injury should mean much more playing time for reserve cornerbacks Isaiah Frey and Zack Bowman in place of the 11-year NFL veteran. Tillman admitted that he may have played his last game for the Bears.
