Dolphins vs. Buccaneers 2013 final score: Tampa Bay picks up 1st win

The Bucs nearly blew a big lead, but rallied back to notch their first win of the season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked up their first win of the season, knocking off the Miami Dolphins, 22-19, on Monday Night Football.

The game couldn’t have started off much better for the Bucs, who drove 76 yards on the opening possession to take a 7-0 lead. Two field goals and a safety later, the Bucs were up 15-0 early in the second quarter, and appeared on their way to their first win of the season. The lead didn’t last long, however, with Miami scoring 19 unanswered points to go up 19-15 at the end of three quarters.

Unlike last week -- when Tampa Bay led 21-0 only to lose 27-24 -- the Bucs were able to rebound. Tampa Bay took a 22-19 lead, but couldn't add to it, setting up Miami with a final opportunity. The Dolphins took over on their own 5-yard line with 3:00 to play. Miami had some early success on the drive, but Ryan Tannehill was sacked on back-to-back plays. Darrelle Revis sealed the victory two plays later with an interception.

Tampa Bay dominated the game in the trenches, outrushing the Dolphins, 140-2. With the win, there are no winless teams left in the NFL. Miami dropped to 4-5 on the season and has now lost five of its last six games.

Fantasy studs and duds

Rishard Matthews was an unexpected fantasy stud. He entered the game with 10 receptions for 117 yards on the season but more than doubled those numbers, finishing with 11 catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

Vincent Jackson wasn't able to get much going, catching three passes for 28 yards.

Injury report

Tampa Bay starting running back Mike James injured his ankle on the opening drive of the game and did not return. According to a report from Ian Rapoport, James fractured his ankle and is out indefinitely.

Did they cover?

Miami was a 2.5-point favorite, according to OddsShark, and failed to cover with the loss.
