AFC East injuries, Week 10: Jets, Patriots getting healthy

New York and New England were both on bye weeks in Week 10 and both teams used the time off to get healthy.

The Jets and Patriots are in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC and both teams will be in better shape on the injury front after taking a week off. The Jets will get a pair of receivers back, while the Patriots could also get a key offensive weapon back soon.

Here’s the latest injury news from around the AFC East.

Buffalo

Buffalo's key skill position players have nursed injuries all season and that continues to be the case. Stevie Johnson, who has battled injuries most of the year, left Sunday's game with a groin injury. His status for Week 11 is still uncertain, according to Jay Skurski. The Bills may also be without Robert Woods, who is likely to miss a second game due to an ankle injury, according to Mike Rodak.

Miami

Miami lost to the Bucs on Monday night, but didn't suffer any major injuries. Linebacker Austin Spitler left the game after suffering an apparent injury defending a punt. Cornerback Dimitri Patterson and linebacker Koa Misi both missed the game due to injury.

New England

The Patriots had a bye in Week 10, giving a few players a chance to get healthy. Shane Vereen is one of those players and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Vereen will have a role in the offense when he is able to return.

“As soon as he is ready and able to help us and we are able to play him, certainly he will have a role in the game,” McDaniels said, via the team’s official website.

New York

New York is coming off a bye week and will have a couple of players back when they return to the field. Kellen Winslow was activated from the suspended list while Santonio Holmes is expected to play in Week 11, according to Rich Cimini. Jeff Cumberland and Antonio Allen both wore non-contact jerseys during Monday's practice while Jeremy Kerley and Garrett McIntyre did not practice due to injuries, according to Kimberly Martin.
