The Oakland Raiders confirmed Saturday that Matt McGloin will start against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Terrelle Pryor is dealing with a knee injury and will not be active this week, so McGloin will make his first career NFL start at quarterback.

He was limited in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report. McGloin took first-team reps in practice and is the next man up on the depth chart. The Raiders are expected to promote Tyler Wilson from the practice squad to serve as McGloin's backup.
McGloin is an undrafted rookie out of Penn State. He made the 53-man roster after outplaying Wilson, a fourth-round pick, in training camp. The Raiders waived Wilson at final cuts and signed him to the practice squad. McGloin struggled early during his career at Penn State, but he showed improvement as an upperclassman under coach Bill O’Brien, completing 60.5 percent of his passes and throwing for 24 touchdowns during his senior year.
