Michael Crabtree injury: 49ers WR out vs. Saints

The top weapon for the 49ers passing offense will sit out at least one more game with an Achilles injury.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree will not play on Sunday against the New Orleans, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.

Crabtree was placed on the physicallyunable to perform (PUP) list prior to the season after the veteran receiver suffered an Achilles injury during the offseason. The 49ers were hoping to activate Crabtree after his return to practice on Nov. 7, in time for Sunday's crucial game against the Saints, but his return will have to wait at least one more week. The 49ers have until Nov. 28 to officially activate Crabtree or they must place him on the IR for the rest of the season.

Tight end Vernon Davis is expected to play, however, after suffering a concussion last week against the Carolina Panthers. Davis must pass one more test on Sunday to be cleared for the game, but is expected to be ready in time for the game.

The 49ers passing offense has suffered greatly this season without it's top weapons on the field, with quarterback Colin Kaepernick averaging just 157 yards passing per game since tossing for over 400 yards against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1.
