NFL playoff picture 2013: Eagles, Broncos take over division leads

A few division leads changed hands in Week 11.

Rich Schultz

The Philadelphia Eagles picked up a big win against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, and in Chip Kelly's first season as head coach, the team is now leading the NFC East in November after a disastrous 2012 season. Nick Foles has the Eagles' offense clicking, and with the NFC East wide open for the taking, the Eagles could be heading to the postseason.

The NFC North got a bit tighter at the top on Sunday as well. The Detroit Lions lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers but stayed on top of the division standings. The Bears beat the Ravens to improve to 6-4 but the tiebreaker belongs to the Lions. The Packers dropped another game without Aaron Rodgers and fell a game behind in the division.

Quietly, the Seahawks improved to 10-1, becoming the first team in the NFL to reach the 10-win mark. They have the first seed in the NFC.

The Wild Card will be an interesting race in the NFC. The Panthers still have to play their Week 11 game, a Monday night showdown with the New England Patriots. The 49ers, meanwhile, lost to the Saints on Sunday.

With a win against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, the Broncos moved into first place in the AFC West and the No. 1 spot in the entire conference. The Patriots will try to keep pace on Monday night when they take on the Carolina Panthers. In Week 12, the Patriots and Broncos will play a potentially decisive game in the race for the top seed in the AFC.

Kansas City is now in control of the top AFC Wild Card spot after dropping to second place in the AFC West. After the Chiefs, the second AFC Wild Card spot is up for grabs. The New York Jets are still in control of the No. 6 seed, but the Miami Dolphins are also sitting at 5-5 and six teams are a game back with 4-6 records.
