San Francisco 49ers guard Mike Iupati sprained his MCL against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and is unlikely to play against the Redskins in Week 12. The 49ers have already lost two straight games, so losing Iupati, one of the team's best offensive linemen, is a major blow going forward.
The referee accused of swearing at Washington tackle Trent Williams during a game between Washington and Philadelphia on Sunday has reportedly been accused of similar behavior before. In the other incidents, the NFL was not able to prove misconduct, but some of Washington's offensive linemen were mic'd up during the game this weekend, so the league may be able to confirm the incident. If so, a suspension is likely coming for the umpire, Roy Ellison.
Thomas Howard, a linebacker who played for the Bengals, Falcons and Raiders, was killed in a car accident on Monday. He was just 30 years old. Howard was with the Raiders for eight seasons. He signed with the Falcons before the 2013 season but was cut.
