Seattle Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond is facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse police, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Seahawks cornerback will drop his appeal to return in time for the postseason.
The four-game suspension would come for a “non-PED” violation, which would be the first of Thurmond’s career. The cornerback, drafted out of the fourth round by the Seahawks in 2010, is in his fourth season in the NFL and is set to head into unrestricted free agency after this season.
Thurmond took over the starting role briefly in the wake of Brandon Browner's groin injury, and has 31 tackles on the season as well as a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Vikings last week. Thurmond was expected to drop his appeal with the hopes of returning in time for a postseason run.
The Seahawks lead the NFC with a 10-1 record, thanks in large part to a dominating defense that ranks No. 2 overall against the pass in 2013.
