Larry Fitzgerald tops 11,000 career receiving yards

The Arizona Cardinals receiver became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 11,000 receiving yards.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald became the youngest player in NFL history to surpass 11,000 career receiving yards on Sunday after catching three passes for 46 yards in the first half against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fitzgerald is now No. 29 on the all-time receiving list with 11,013 yards and is No. 5 among still-active receivers, with Atlanta’s Tony Gonzalez leading the pack with 14,879 career receiving yards.

Fitzgerald also has two touchdowns for the Cardinals in the first half of their game against the Colts.

The 30-year old receiver was the No. 3 overall pick by the Cardinals in the 2004 NFL draft and instantly made a big impact on the league, recording a career-high 103 receptions for 1,409 yards and 10 touchdowns in just his second year in the league. From 2007 to 2011, Fitzgerald had five straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards receiving and scored an astonishing 35 touchdowns in just a three-year span from 2007 to 2009.

Fitzgerald has been named to the Pro Bowl seven times and is a three-time All-Pro selection while setting NFL records for touchdown receptions in the postseason (7), receptions in a postseason (30), receiving yards in a postseason (546), as well as being the youngest player to record 700 catches and to reach 7,000 yards receiving in a career.

That Fitzgerald has accomplished these feats while playing for Arizona is nothing short of amazing. Since coming into the league in 2004, Fitzgerald has played with a total of 12 different starting quarterbacks. The best span of his career to date has come with Kurt Warner under center, who quarterbacked the Cardinals from 2005 to 2009 and led Arizona to the Super Bowl in 2009.
