Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas is officially inactive for Sunday night's game against the New England Patriots. Thomas' knee is not healthy enough for the Broncos to risk in an important AFC showdown.
Julius Thomas inactive for Sunday night vs. Patriots
The Broncos will be without their top playmaker at tight end on Sunday night.

Thomas suffered a knee injury in last week's win over the Kansas City Chiefs. He tried to make a comeback, getting in limited practice and being listed as questionable, but the Broncos decided to shut him down. Joel Dreessen is expected to get the start in Thomas' place, with Jacob Tamme serving as his backup.
Thomas is a big loss for Denver's offense, which is already getting banged up. Wes Welker suffered a concussion last week, but he's active and expected to play. Thomas has been enjoying a brekout season under Peyton Manning. Through 10 games, he recorded 45 catches for 590 yards and 10 touchdowns. Manning will have to look elsewhere for touchdown targets with his favorite red zone weapon out.
