Redskins vs. 49ers halftime score: San Francisco up 10-6

An Anquan Boldin first-quarter touchdown has the 49ers up at halftime over the Redskins.

The defenses got the better of the first half in Washington, but San Francisco was able to find the end zone, giving the 49ers a 10-6 lead at halftime.

Anquan Boldin did his part early on to quiet claims the 49ers don't have enough offensive weapons. He made a pair of excellent catches on San Francisco's first scoring drive, including a 19-yard touchdown grab. Boldin has topped 75 yards in a game just once since racking up 208 yards in the season opener. He's on track to do so against Washington, finishing the first half with two catches for 43 yards.

Before kickoff, the game was billed as a matchup between Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick. The two were among the most exciting players in football last season before struggling to match that success this season. Kaepernick won the quarterback battle in the first half, connecting on several big throws. He completed 6-of-10 passes in the first half for 118 yards and a touchdown.

Griffin’s issues continued and he turned in arguably the worst quarter of his career. He completed 1-of-6 passes for minus-1 yard and a terrible interception in the first quarter. Griffin threw the ball right to a defender, leading to a San Francisco field goal. He rebounded in the second quarter, finding some success with wide receiver screens and connecting on a few nice throws.

Washington was extremely fortunate near the end of the half. Griffin attempted to scramble and was stripped of the ball. The ball fell to a 49ers defender, but he was unable to corral it and Washington recovered deep in San Francisco territory, eventually adding a field goal to make it a 10-6 game.

Both quarterbacks took big hits in the first half. Griffin got drilled after throwing an interception.
