The Oakland Raiders activated tackle Jared Veldheer from injured reserve on Wednesday, according to the team's official Twitter account.
Raiders activate Jared Veldheer, waive Tyler Wilson
The Raiders had to make room for one of their best offensive players on Wednesday.
Veldheer has been dealing with a triceps injury but is now healthy enough to play. He will be available when the Raiders take on the Cowboys in a Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday.
To make room for Veldheer on the roster, the Raiders have once again waived rookie quarterback Tyler Wilson, who has already spent time on the team's practice squad this season. WIth undrafted rookie Matt McGloin outperforming Wilson, there is little incentive for Oakland to hang onto the former Arkansas quarterback.
Whether Terrelle Pryor or McGloin moves forward as Oakland’s starting quarterback, having Veldheer healthy and playing is a big plus for the Raiders. He’s been the best player on Oakland’s offensive line over the last two seasons.
As for Wilson, he’ll have to hope he gets picked up by another team this time around. Otherwise, he’ll be back on the Raiders’ practice squad. If he’s lucky.
