Packers’ Tramon Williams calls ref contact “an accident”

The Packers DB says he was frustrated with the Lions and didn’t realize what he was doing.

Packers cornerback Tramon Williams called his contact with a referee "an accident" in comments following Green Bay's 40-10 loss to the Lions on Thursday in Detroit, reports Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“One of the offensive linemen after they scored just kind of ran up into (me) and gave me a shoulder celebrating,” Williams said, via Silverstein. “I was walking, actually walking toward that way, going off the field. The referee must have come and just walked right in front of me and grazed me ... and I kind of knocked his arm off me. ... It was just an emotion thing.”

It appears Williams was walking toward Lions center Dominic Raiola following a touchdown that put the Lions up 32-10 when he put his hand on the back of the official and shoved him. Williams was flagged for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike contact penalty.

Whether, or more likely how much, the decision will cost Williams remains to be seen.
