Richie Incognito, Dolphins will extend OL’s suspension with pay, per report

Incognito will continue his suspension, but will begin receiving paychecks.

The Miami Dolphins aren't lifting their indefinite suspension of offensive lineman Richie Incognito, but he will begin receiving paychecks, as the team has reportedly reached an agreement with the offensive guard to extend his suspension with pay, according to Jeff Darlington of NFL.com.

Incognito, 30, has been suspended since Nov. 3 after an investigation was launched to take a closer look at his involvement in bullying claims that led second-year offensive tackle Jonathan Martin to leave the team. Considering he's in the last year of his contract, the agreement to extend his suspension furthers the likelihood that Incognito has played his final game with the team.

Due to language in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Dolphins were allowed to suspend Incognito no more than four games without pay. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the deal made with the team included two game checks for Incognito and that the suspension can last no more than six games.

During the absence of Incognito, the Dolphins have lost two of three games to drop to 5-6. In the two losses, to the Buccaneers and Panthers, the team managed just 54 combined yards of rushing offense.

Incognito had previously filed a grievance against the Dolphins for the suspension, but agreed to postpone his hearing until the investigation by Ted Wells is complete.
