Bills release QB Matt Flynn, add FB Evan Rodriguez

The former Packers, Seahawks and Raiders quarterback spent just three weeks with the Bills.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sport

The Buffalo Bills have parted ways with quarterback Matt Flynn just three weeks after he was added to the team's roster, as the team announced the addition of fullback Evan Rodriguez in his place on Monday.

Flynn, 28, was signed by the Bills as an insurance policy after quarterback E.J. Manuel suffered a knee injury. With Manuel now cleared to return to practice with the team, the Bills evidently no longer need Flynn on the roster and are content to stick with Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis for quarterback depth.

A fourth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Rodriguez appeared in 12 games for the Chicago Bears as a rookie before he was released in the offseason. He spent preseason with the Miami Dolphins, but was released prior to the beginning of the regular season and hasn't made an appearance in a game in 2013.

Flynn is now subject to waivers.
