NFL news roundup: Aaron Rodgers injured; Jay Cutler set to return

Two NFC North teams are heading in opposite directions after Monday Night Football.

The Green Bay Packers lost to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 9, tightening the race in the NFC North.

Packers running back Eddie Lacy carried the offense, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the Bears. Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery both scored touchdowns, and Chicago's offense milked the clock in the fourth quarter to ice the victory.

The biggest news, however, was the injury to a certain Packers quarterback. Here’s that news and the other news you may have missed from Monday night.

Aaron Rodgers exits game, does not return

Green Bay Packers quarterback left the game on Monday night with a shoulder injury and did not return. The injury occurred on the first drive of the game after Rodgers landed awkwardly on his left shoulder. He went to the locker room and was ruled out for the game. When he emerged from the locker room in the second half, Rodgers was wearing street clothes but no sling. Packers coach Mike McCarthy during his press conference said no diagnosis has been made and that Rodgers will undergo more tests on Tuesday.

Jay Cutler expects to be back in Week 10

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was supposed to miss at least a month after suffering a groin injury in Week 7. Instead, reports have surfaced that Cutler is eyeing a Week 10 return for the Bears as they take on the Lions. With a win over the Packers, the Bears have tied the Packers and created a three-way tie atop the NFC North along with the Lions. Week 10's game will be a big one, so it's the perfect time for Cutler to make his return.

Gary Kubiak suffered minor stroke on Sunday night

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak collapsed on the field at halftime of Sunday night's game against the Colts. Kubiak suffered a transient ischemic attack, according to reports. A TIA can be classified as a mini stroke. Kubiak wouldn't have suffered any permanent damage from a TIA.
